Update - Mayor's Proposed Nightlife Premises Ordinance
ATTENTION!! The City Council will conduct the first legislative briefing on the Mayor’s proposed Nightlife Ordinance which will seriously harm our city’s vibrant music and nightlife industry. The briefing is this Thursday, March 1st at 9:30 a.m. The Mayor’s office will brief the Council’s Economic Development and Neighborhoods Committee in the second-floor council chambers at City Hall (600 – 4th Avenue). While no action will be taken, there is an opportunity at the beginning of the committee meeting for public comment. SeattleNMA encourages those who value a safe and vibrant nightlife to attend this meeting and provide comment on the proposed legislation. While there will be additional opportunities for people to provide comment on the legislation, it is important that the Council hear from club owners, nightlife patrons and other pro-nightlife stakeholders at this first briefing.
If you cannot attend the briefing, please email the members of the committee and express your opinion about the Mayor’s proposal. Members of the Economic Development and Neighborhoods Committee are:
Sally Clark (Chair) – sally.clark@seattle.gov
Richard McIver – richard.mciver@seattle.gov
Jan Drago – jan.drago@seattle.gov
Peter Steinbrueck – peter.steinbrueck@seattle.gov

Over the past few weeks, the City Council has received an enormous amount of communication regarding the Mayor’s proposed Nightlife Premises Ordinance. While much of that correspondence has been pro-nightlife, it is important that the council continues to hear from those of us who value a safe and vibrant nightlife. If you have yet to contact the council, please do so today. Please also encourage your friends to email the council with their thoughts. More information, including a draft email and link to email all nine members of the City Council can be found at: http://imonthelist.org/index.php?id=6.
